Damn shame, commiserations to his family!
Bryan Mullins @ 2019-04-12 13:20:53
Fuck. 50 is way too young.

with Bryan here. I didn’t know James but I saw some of the good he did. Sorry to hear it and sympathy to his family.

There's a link going around to help with James's funeral expenses. paypal.me/jamessmithmemory

I am baffled by how a family in the world's wealthiest country can't afford 700$ for a funeral. ._. Sigh, between the death and the lack of money I really feel for his family.

Those are the things about the US I learned in social media. The amount of begging blows my mind.

Hey, this happed to my grandad a few months ago when my Grandma died. Her insurance only covered part of the funeral and the family (thankfully large) had to take up some collections amongst us to cover the rest. People here are poor, by and large. No one saves, and the jobs are shit. The structures designed to part us from our $ are venerable, large, and often protected by they state. No amount of being smart can offset all that...and not everyone is smart.

Absolutely! I learned on Google+ and Mastodon. When I grew up, my image of the US was very different. Its PR was excellent! Also movies like Winter’s Bones and Wind River were eye openers. I mean, all we see from the US is what the media shows us… and lately, what social media shows us. It was an eye opener, for me.
