So now that the UVG kickstarter is nearly over, I'm inspired to run a Violet City mini-campaign using the UVG Introduction which I will segue to a full blown UVG campaign when the hardcover arrives. Any thoughts, tips or tricks?

Depending on the time it takes to print and ship the books, you mini-introduction campaign might run quite long :p. I hope everything goes well for UVG, but I have seen too many crowdfunding campaigns for which I told myself "I'll prep the campaign from the PDF, and then the book will be delivered before the first session!", and then ran the whole campaign from the PDF because the book came way way too late.

@Whidou totally understand. The reasons I'm relatively confident about UVG being delivered on time are that they have been very careful to ensure that the stretch goals don't impact on the delivery of the book, the text was already finished before the KS campaign started and that layout and editing have been in progress during the KS campaign itself. Sounds like a very tightly run ship to me!

One thing that would be useful for a full UVG campaign online is a UVG Caravan Sheet for Roll20.

Cooling on this idea. There's less Violet City material in the Introduction than I thought. Perhaps a Yoon-Suin campaign instead.

Could still use the UVG travel and trade mechanics for journeys in Yoon-Suin.

The patreon version of UVG serves me well in running a campaign; PC motivations were taken from the table included for that, and we just started off in the violet city. I found the information provided more than sufficient for my episodic bricolage style of refereeing, assuming everything that isn't covered is unremarkable and/or free for additions. The best recommendation I can give is go and read the glossary in the appendix, as it is the most concise entry point into the UVG for a new referee, and seeing the individual location entries as some kind of anchor when you get to there.

Oh wait, you want to focus on the Violet City -- i completely missed that on first and second reading of your OP. The glossary still covers a couple things, but yeah, the current material on the Violet City is limited for that endeavor. That said, there is a bit more about it in the full patreon version (from which the available freebie is condensed), and Luka will give it to people if they ask him nicely on the UVG discord. I can provide an invite if you want to stake the place out ... I mean if you want to check the discord.

I'm going to do a few simple dungeon crawls first and use the time to figure out what I want to do in terms of a campaign.

Sativa for the DM, a hybrid for the players.

I'm going to hold off on all UVG activity until I at least get my Backer's PDF. In the meantime, I'm going to run a few pamphlet dungeons courtesy of @Nate Treme's Dungeon Junk Mail!
