Here's a radical suggestion folks... How about keeping this as 'no photos'. MeWe has become much more visual and as a result, more of a click the link site. Here, people are actually saying (writing) things.

I like it. I still like bold and italics and actual linked text instead of URLs but not much more is required. Even lists are optional.

But I took pictures of Leonardo's sketches and of Dippy and I want to share them with you. I think the two content forms are quite different and both deserve space. Maybe keeping feeds separate would be a good solution. Something else would be to render the URL as a link, and not provide an image grab of the remote site.

At any rate, the platform needs link support (the web needs hyperlinks), and image support could be turned off on demand.

The Futaba/4chan way to do thing could also be a solution to consider: thumbnails of pictures on the side of the posts, that expand once clicked. This way, the images don't clutter the feed, while still being easily accessible.

Uhm good idea. Fortunately all these things can tweaked in the front end.

or... make it an option? I don't know if you think it'll be possible to have preferences, but maybe some users would select the "I want pictures to be transformed as links" and they wouldn't have any image in their feeds. But hyperlinks are a must-have, still.

I just put live URL linkification, let me know how it goes
