Trapped overnight in OHare on the way to a morning meeting in Austin due to "thunder," I feel like a Frank Herbert cardinal trying to broker a deal with an insane and phobic doge, or like the guy who arrives on every Jim Cameron planet to figure out why local security is having such a hard time managing the local life forms. It's weirdly claustro, it's drafty, the glass ceiling has sprung dozens of leaks they catch with plastic bins on the floor, I have a whole quarter of earnings to digest and I am going to be PROFOUNDLY off balance when I get back. But for now, my droogs, travel makes us do stupid things. Did you even know this existed? I will share. https://picclick.com/Dungeons-Dragons-1982-Hanna-Barbera-Tv-Series-Show-273723952991.html

WHAT IS THIS EVEN
Scott Martin @ 2019-05-01 21:36:44
IKR Separately I finally arrived and the meetings are going so well I "get" to stay another day. This hotel is built inside a strip mall. God bless Texas!
Mamading Ceesay @ 2019-05-01 22:07:40
Tell me the mall at least has a game store or a decent bookshop!

I wish I could make it to Monkeywrench but unlikely to even get time for tacos. Outlaw Moon is theoretically between tomorrow morning and the airport though . . . maybe I'll get to drop in. I'm kind of loving it but I love every planet the guild sends me to.

The urge to open with “many machines on Ix” must be overwhelming. I have learned that even though Herbert wanted us to think of the Guild as the VOC, temperamentally they’re really the Venetians.
Richard G @ 2019-05-02 12:02:13
Just beware: the VOC’s fiscal agents tended to die abruptly of “tropical fever” whenever they got sent east to check on the local factories. I have a trashy remake of Heart of Darkness up my sleeve, where it’s not African madness you have to watch out for but byzantine fraud networks.

I love their stamps. So funny how Movement of the Free Spirit opens with that bravura hymn to Venice In The Day. I never really take them seriously in modern times when Trieste is just around the bend four times as romantic and recent. Your trashy remakes are rapidly becoming their own genre! Need to monetize. Speaking of which, success! Information exchanged, now safe back at the airport huffing spice and other air conditioner chemicals. Herbert has a funny relationship with the nederlandische (or are they afrikaans?), maybe because he wasn't really a new-york kind of guy.
