I always thought old musicians tended to get less ambitious and less challenging, after a certain point in their lives. More content with classic rhythms and moves, habits. Less eager to invent or reinvent. Well, I guess I must be old now, because my perspective's shifting: now I think old farts just come to value joy more, because there's generally less of it around. I might not have valued Allen Toussaint when I was younger, but I'm glad I've finally found him. https://www.pbs.org/video/austin-city-limits-allen-toussaint-party-going-on/ https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/5-allen-toussaint-songs-you-need-to-know-34050/

I've been visiting the whole New Orleans canon since Dr. John passed.

I hadn’t really listened to much New Orleans music until I watched Treme, which massively impacted my taste in music
