I don't need to make a gaming Twitter account so I can jump into all these incredibly poorly informed debates about "evil races." Please reinforce me in this decision. Hard to do when people are like HOW CAN I PLAY D&D WITHOUT RACISM? THERE IS EVIL IN THE DROW GENE WHICH MEANS NOT ONE OF THEM CAN BE CHAOTIC GOOD AND ANGST RIDDEN AND CRUISING AROUND TOPSIDE WITH A GARY STU PANTHER

Ah, WASPs and their obsession with purity. Don't live the twitter rpg scene. Reddit is a PR tool.

Eberron drow are the best drow.

I don’t think you’re missing anything. It seems like Twitter requires a bit of hard work and fortitude to use it well and just be able to filter out the rubbish, and ignore that crap that gets through. I like Twitter when I occasionally dip into it. I often find some really good stuff from one of the sane RPGers that post there. I hate Twitter when, with that 1 from 1 success, I dip into it another 19 times to only find idiocy, racism, sexism, age-ism, rudeness, crassness...etc. So I don’t go there often. I only keep it because sometimes people somewhere else link to something cool/interesting. But I could give it up, and am thinking seriously about doing so. And this love affair with Drow bemuses me.

I'm currently reading a book called "Roll Inclusive". It's full of essays about diversity in roleplaying games and how to write stuff that doesn't (willfully or not) exclude anyone. The nice part is that it isn't preachy at all and doesn't tell me what not to do or say, but instead gives me ideas of what the nice thing to do could be. Alas, it's all german.

Drow are just wannabe Githyanki. Githyanki are wannabe Melniboneans. Melniboneans wannabe Lord Byron. Byron wanted to be in the School of Night. So really it all comes back to Elizabethan poets.
